Liberty Leading The People

Liberty leading the people is a romanticized image following The French Revolution. The womens breast is exposed to show, fertility and the beauty of life after so much fighting. I like this painting a lot because it portrays war, in a erringly beautiful way. This picture was the cover art of Coldplay's album "Viva La Vida and or the death of all his friends".

Roy Lichtenstein

Lichtenstein was a pop artist in the 60's. He was inspired by old comic book art. He believed that something as simple as comic books can be portrayed as high art.

Creation of Adam

The Creation of Adam is a section of Michelangelo's fresco Sistine Chapel ceiling painted circa 151. I love the accuracy of the anatomy for the time. It's perfect even without modern technology.  There are some theories that in the picture, "God" represents the brain. Also: Some of the lines in the neck of God aren't accurate to anatomy, and the lines might represent a brain stem. Michelangelo would have not have made this anatomical mistake, so maybe there is some meaning to to the "God is mind" theory.

Seat Of The Synod - John Avon

A piece called Seat of Synod. The artist is John Avon, and he's a Magic The Gathering (CCG) artist. The medium is Photoshop using the brush tool. I like the colors in the art, and the sense of scale. The setting in the Magic The Gathering world is a metal planet, and I think it conveys it very well while still staying natural.

Guernica

Geurnica Pablo Picasso.
Guernica is a painting by Pablo Picasso. It is a painting of the bombing of Guernica by German and Italian war planes in the Spanish Civil war. The medium is oil and canvas and the dimensions are 349 cm × 776 cm (137.4 in × 305.5 in). Shapes in black and white are being applied to show a dark event. Why do I like this?? I Guernica because it is very simplistic. It uses shape and shades of black and white to show dark and tragic event. It is very abstract and it shows that a piece doesn't need to be photo-realistic to convey emotion and intrigue.
